The Significance of an Eclipse

“. . .in ancient cultures, the Partnership models, right, and not a guy and a broad and how the broad is just helpless without the man. Not that bullshit that a lot of people like to romanticize about. That’s very disempowering, I feel. But you know, it’s fine, if that’s where people are. It’s about partnership, it’s not about a gender, that’s kind of my point.

So in the partnership models that existed before the matriarch, before the patriarch, before defining us through gender and who was who, they had eclipses happen all the time. They had eclipses happen all the time because an eclipse is a spiritual metaphysical point that opens between us and Source God, whatever you want to call that. And so it’s a tunnel, it’s a doorway that opens. And so for us in the Toltec tradition, we say it’s a Black Sun. And the Black Sun is there off and on. The nagual can open the Black Sun anytime that it needs to for the work that he or she is here to do.

But in the Partnership Model cultures there were more eclipses than anything else, because what happens in an eclipse is your biology, your identity, your fixed Being – the sun and the moon that you’re a part of – all completely line up and everything that you forgot floods back to you in a Knowing-ness. Not in psychic, not in intuition, you just Know. When those alignments occur, when the Black Sun and the yellow sun line up, and your Being and your biology line up in that moment that that happened this morning, you are in a state of Gnosis. You’re in a state of Knowing everything you need to know, and really everything that’s going to happen. It’s a brief moment, but you have to catch it, right. We’re not trained anymore to catch that moment of Gnosis where we’re in the mystery itself, we’re in the Void, we’re in the Black Sun, which is everything and nothing all at the same time.”
