Food Combining
Simple food combinations are a must to make the stomach work properly. Serve only three or four items at a time, but change with every meal and you will have a healthy family.
Hanna Kroeger’s guidelines for proper food combining are as follows:
- For breakfast, have a high protein meal such as eggs or meat with vegetables. For lunch, it is also important to have protein and vegetables or potatoes with vegetables. Avoid eating protein after 2pm. For the dinner meal, have carbohydrates and vegetables.
- Eat fruits alone or on an empty stomach (at least half an hour before a meal). Apples are the only exception to the rule and can be eaten any time. Never eat fruits with vegetables. Never eat acid fruit with cereal. Apples and rice go with anything! High water content fruits can be combined together: apples, pears, plums, nectarines, peaches and grapes, for instance. All the melon family, and the citrus family, are eaten alone. Watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew are eaten singly, even though they are all melons. Fruits are digested quickly, so, for instance, watermelon may be eaten 30 minutes after eating oranges, etc. The 30-minute spacing is important.
- Eat proteins with vegetables. Do not eat proteins with carbohydrates. This includes bread unless the bread is sprouted whole grain and not processed. Never have milk and meat at the same meal. Milk and meat require two different digestive enzymes. If eaten together, the meat will not digest properly.
- Eat carbohydrates with vegetables. Both raw and cooked vegetables should be eaten at mealtime (50% raw and 50% cooked).
- Do not use aluminum pots, pans, and foil. Do not drink soft drinks of any kind or beer from aluminum cans.
- Avoid processed foods, sugar products and ALL GMO’s.
- Avoid Gluten when possible.
- Avoid fried, greasy foods.
- No pork or chilies.
- Three times per week for dinner, eat one of the following combinations: beans and rice or beans and tortillas.
- Avoid any and all Soy. To obtain more information on this subject, see the document 12 Reasons to Avoid Soy.
- Avoid all Kraft products; most if not all are genetically engineered. The unaware public is the new clinical setting for testing. Please do your research on the foods you purchase/invest in and make sure you are aware of their origins/production and how/why are they on your table.
- No drinks with food, for babies and little people, if a bottle or cup is needed, water only. Wait 30 minutes after (or 30 minutes before) a meal to give juice or milk.
